Research Interests are focused on the ordered secondary structures of linear biopolymers and
methods of determining their structures mainly by X-ray diffraction analysis of oriented fibres that are sometimes also polycrystalline and by molecular modelling. Rationalizing the exploitation of such structures by biological systems, in the food and other industries, and in medicine is the main consequential activity. The molecular systems studied are mostly polynucleotides and the gel-forming polysaccharides of plant and animal connective tissues but interesting polypeptides (collagen) and polyisoprenes (rubber) have also received attention.
